Think On This Awhile

April 12, 2013

Matthew 6:9-13 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ Yesterday we took a look at John 14:12-14, a bold statement by Jesus to “ask for anything in His name”. We are to pray that “God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Prayer serves all sorts of purposes, one of which is to confirm and usher in the will of God on this earth. It is interesting that Jesus stressed the importance of Him returning to the Father, so that the Holy Spirit would come to us. Empowered by that Holy Spirit, we are able to pray according to Jesus’ will. Can it be that the Author of all creation will speak something into being, using you as the vessel?
