Exodus 3:2-4
There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.  So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”  When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”And Moses said, “Here I am.”

God is the author of the miraculous. Here at Mt. Horeb, Moses encounters the living God: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God has heard Israel’s cry for help, and He is going to use Moses to free them from Egyptian captivity. There is no end to the fire of God, and it’s blaze does not depend on kindling or oxygen, but only God Himself. This awe-inspiring flame draws Moses in. God can and does use the miraculous to prepare hearts for ministry. Sometimes the miraculous is God’s training ground for us.
